EIC Editorial

Ç NEARLY two years have passed since the formation of the IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering. The submission site opened in mid-March in 2014, and an interdisciplinary editorial board was assembled. As I pointed out in the inaugural issue’s editorial, the board consists of some of the foremost experts in various aspects of network science and engineering. The high standards of our stellar editorial board has resulted in publication of six issues (four quarterly issues in 2015 and two issues in 2014) of very high quality addressing all aspects of networks science and engineering, from state of the art in algorithms, theory, and experimental studies. From the beginning, my goal was to create a high quality venue for publication of rigorous, high-quality, high-impact articles that go beyond the 32nd popular science sound bites. I believe we have succeeded thanks to the efforts of our magnificent editorial board and the dedicated staff of IEEE and the journal. I would specifically like to thank Alison Larkin and Kathy Santa Maria for their tireless efforts. Moving forward, however, we need to increase the volume and number of publications without compromising the quality. I would therefore like to invite all of you to consider submitting your best work to IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering. I would especially encourage suggestions from the community for special issues on various sub-disciplines of network science and engineering. This could be in a wide range of topics from social and economic networks to spreading processes and epidemics to financial networks. In the meantime, we plan to continue publishing issues in a quarterly fashion for the next year.
